Vibe Kanban alternatives after the April 2026 shutdown
Last reviewed: September 2026
Status: Shut down
On April 10, 2026, Bloop announced it was shutting down the company behind Vibe Kanban. The project lives on as community-maintained open source (Apache-2.0). Remote and cloud services were kept for 30 days and then removed, including kanban issues, comments, projects and orgs; local workspaces keep working. Source: vibekanban.com/blog/shutdown.
BAND is a client of the agency behind this site.
If you used Vibe Kanban for its board, BAND for desktop is the strongest replacement: it adds what Vibe Kanban lacked, agents handing work to each other, with Claude Code via BAND's plugin and Codex, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode listed as integrations. BAND lists a kanban board for desktop, marked Coming July 2026 on its site. For a free, open-source swap, Nimbalyst is closest; for parallel runs on a Mac, Conductor.
What did Vibe Kanban do?
Vibe Kanban was a kanban board for running coding agents in parallel with git worktrees: "each workspace gives an agent a branch, a terminal, and a dev server." It supported a long list of agents: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Amp, Cursor, OpenCode, Droid, CCR and Qwen Code. It had about 28,000 GitHub stars. Bloop's stated reason for closing: "the vast majority are free users" and "we couldn't find a business model that we could get excited about."
Can I keep using it?
Local workspaces keep working and the code remains open source, so you can keep running it. What you lose is the hosted side (shared issues, comments, projects, orgs) and active company maintenance. Some users also reported that worktree folders became a problem on large codebases.
What should a Vibe Kanban replacement have?
- A board, if that was the reason you used it.
- The agents you actually run. Vibe Kanban's list was unusually broad; check yours is covered.
- Local execution, so your worktree-style workflow survives.
- Whether you want agents to stay parallel or start handing off.

Run your agents as a team
BAND for desktop lets your coding agents hand work to each other in shared rooms while you stay in the loop. Claude Code joins via BAND's plugin; Codex, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode are listed as integrations. Sessions stay on your machine (macOS or Linux).
How do you migrate off Vibe Kanban?
Your repos, branches and worktrees are plain git, so nothing is locked in. Export anything you still need from local workspaces. If you relied on hosted issues or comments, those were removed after the 30-day window.
